About Us

  • Cal Johnson

Cal graduated from Michigan School of Psychology with a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2020. Cal also graduated from San Francisco State University with a Master of Arts in Human Sexuality Studies in 2017. Cal got a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University in 2015.

Cal describes their approach to therapy as “Rogers and Rogers”. Their approach is like a combination of two famous Rogers. Mister Rogers once said “look for the helpers,” and Carl Rogers formed a whole therapy theory around the idea that people are experts on themselves, and the therapist needs to take a non-directive, compassionate stance and help the person in therapy discover their own solutions. Putting these Rogers together, they would describe their philosophy as everyone can be their own helper, and my role is to help the person in therapy develop their own healing voice.

Their hobbies include keeping up with their office staff, reading fantasy books, playing Minecraft on their switch and doing scratch art.

  • Zoo, Office Supurrvisor

Zoo is from San Francisco, CA. She has achieved two degrees along with her human, having spent long nights rolling all over textbooks, standing on the keyboard, and chewing on pens for fun. This has made her uniquely qualified to be the supurrvisor of my private practice.

  • Cheddar, Morale Officer

Cheddar is a rescue from animal control, and named after a famous corgi on his human’s favorite TV show. He focuses on being the neediest, clingiest co-worker possible, although he had to accept he was no longer allowed in the office due to his habit of chewing on wires. Cheddar makes sure the interns are doing what he says because he raised them.

  • Toby, Intern

Toby was found with his sister under a bush when he was a month old. He has used his early life experiences to increase the quality of his compassion. When Toby is not working, he likes to climb to very tall places and steal dog kibbles from dishes.

  • Cricket, Intern

Cricket was found under a bush at one month old with her brother. This experience has led her to be an advocate, loudly, about everything. When she is not working, she enjoys taking things (candy, scissors, allen wrench etc…) from the counter top and bringing them downstairs because it gives her a thrill.

  • Rex, Finance Officer

Rex is an enthusiastic golden retriever and manages where our income goes, whether it be to the good snacks, or emergency vet visits because he was too friendly with a porcupine. He and the office supurrvisor have named each other mortal enemies.
